Allah is enough for us and the best Guardian

Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib says in his Qasidah of commentary on his Wird, “The Majestic Truth has promised the dhakir who recites it that he will have what he needs, not limited to any state,” and “In our time its invocation takes precedence over Ahzab  of Qur’an or Wadhifahs.”

What he is talking about is the repetition of Allah’s words, “Hasbunallahu wa ni’ma ‘l-Wakeel,” (Allah is enough for us and the best Guardian). He further elucidates on it merits for sayyidina Ibrahim in protecting him from the fire that he was thrown into and that our Messenger was given everything through it. Khutbah – Ramadan Mercy

FIRST KHUTBAH 1st December 2000

My mercy extends to all things

but I will prescribe it for those who have taqwa

and pay the Zakah,

and those who believe in Our Signs:

When Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, mentions that His mercy extends to everything, it indicates that nothing exists except by the Mercy of Allah. This is an undifferentiated mercy that is necessary for anything to exist and survive. Existence itself is a mercy.

If we remember that Allah told us that when He desired to create the universe He took a portion of His light and said to it, “Be Muhammad”, and also that He sent him, sallallahu alayhi wa sallim, only as a mercy to all the worlds, we can see that mercy is the very fabric of our existence and Allah’s will.

The first thing a child does as it emerges from the womb, before it cries is breathe. This first sustaining breath comes with the gift of life and is quickly followed by others until the last one heralds our entry into the next world. It is the gift which makes all else possible, and the one we can least do without while in this world. Continue reading “Khutbah – Ramadan Mercy”

A Core Element Within The Madinan Model of Islam

Abdullah Luongo     Cape Town, South Africa

In 1331 during the dynamic rule of the Khalifah Orhan Ghazi the town of Iznik, which had been part of the Byzantine Empire until it was captured by his father Osman Ghazi in 1302, became the new Muslim capital.  It was in Iznik that we see the first Imarat established by the Khalifah.  Significantly, a second Imarat was later built in the same city, this time by Nilufer Hatun, the wife of Orhan Gazi, setting an important precedent that continued with other great women in Islam. The Murabitun in the Eyes of the ‘Ulama of the Ahl as-Sunnah

Abu Miftah – Islamic Historian

There are jama’ahs among the Muslim community that have existed for thousands of years establishing jihad fisabilillah – al-Murabitun is one of them. Nowadays they urge us to return to the ‘amal of the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and the Sahaba, in upholding the Zakah and the Mu’amalah with Dinars and Dirhams.

In the history books written by the ‘ulama of the Ahl as-Sunnah, the role and service of the Murabitun communities is often referred to as establishing the greatness of Allah’s deen – Islam. So, who are these Murabitun? Continue reading “The Murabitun in the Eyes of the ‘Ulama of the Ahl as-Sunnah”
