الإسراء والمعراج – al-Isra’ wa’l-Mi’raj – Durban, South Africa, 17th July 2010

What inspired this gathering tonight was the desire to commemorate the night that the Rasulullah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallim, was taken by Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, upon the back of the white Buraq to the Masjid al-Aqsa in al-Quds and from there He, subhanahu wa ta’ala, raised His slave to Himself through the seven heavens to His presence.

In the presence of Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, he was welcomed, shown what was to be seen and given all he could desire.

Himmah – Gaborone, G West Mosque 9th September 2008

Himmah is aspiration, but a particular aspiration as all men and women have aspiration, even if it is to destroy themselves.

This aspiration, called Himmah in Arabic, is a desire that relates to Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, and his Rasul, sallallahu alayhi wa salim. It is the purification of the desires that all men have from all that is other than Allah.

Himmah is inextricably linked to movement. Allah’s creation is dynamic; it is always in motion; everything exists by energy, even the solid mountains and down to the smallest atom and its constituents. Himmah is what connects the intelligent being in the universe, which is man, to the movement of the cosmos as designed and decreed by its Creator. KHUTBAH 9th September 2005 – Rasesa, Botswana

Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says in suratu’l-Hajj;

“I allowed time to the kafirun
but then I seized them.
How terrible was My denial!
How many wrongdoing cities We destroyed,
and now all their roofs and walls are fallen in;
How many abandoned wells and stuccoed palaces!
Have they not travelled about the earth
and do they not have hearts to understand with
or ears to hear with?
It is not their eyes which are blind
but the hearts in their breasts which are blind.”

42:44

In this era of disasters and cataclysm brought by Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, it is time for Muslims to wake up and take charge as much as we are able according to what Allah sent us and what His Rasulullah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallim, demonstrated of our Deen. While the Kuffar continue to deny Allah by attributing last year’s tsunami and the recent hurricane in the southern states of North America to the forces of nature, we have to understand that the world is in rapid change, not in the way the media and politicians like to present as technological and democratic, but in the way Allah mentions in the first of the ayaat that were recited. The Golden Sword – NMJ Hall, Durban 6th May 2010

Alhamdulillah –

Alhamdulillah in every situation and at every time. It is impossible to give Him the praise He deserves as it is beyond us. He encompasses everything and nothing encompasses Him. The whole matter is in His hands and the outcome is only His, subhanahu wa ta’ala.

In His Mercy and Love He took a part of His praiseworthiness, named him Ahmad and made Himself known through His beloved and Best of His Creation. He, sallallahu alayhi wa sallim, in turn cannot be praised by us according to his due. We accept our limitation and are grateful to be a part of his Ummah, and ask Allah to bless him according to his place and rank in every time and every place, not forgetting his family and noble companions, and all who have followed in their footsteps until now.

KHUTBAH 11th June 2004 – Gaborone, Botswana

Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, tells us in suratul Al ‘Imran;

“Allah witnesses that there is no God but Him
 As do the Angels and the people of knowledge,
 upholding justice.
 There is no god but Him,
 the Almighty, the All-Wise.
 The Deen with Allah is Islam.
 Those given the book only differed
 After knowledge had come to them, envying one another.
 As for those who reject Allah’s signs,
 Allah is swift at reckoning.

If they argue with you, say,
 I have submitted myself completely to Allah,
 and so have all who follow me.”

Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala,  the Creator and Originator of everything from the beginning of time until its end tells us that He sent sayyidina Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallim, with Islam for man to live by. With Allah it is the only deen that is acceptable; that means it is the only road -Shari’ah- that leads to Him and the Garden in the Akhirah, the permanent destination. It is not a religion among religions; all religions are astray and do not lead to Allah or salvation.
