[Mālik] said, ‘And there is no harm in a man supplicating for all of his needs in the obligatory ṣalāh, the needs of his worldly life and his ākhirah, in the standing, sitting and prostration.’ He said, ‘And he used to disapprove of it in the bowing.’

Ibn al-Qāsim said, and Mālik informed me from ‘Urwah ibn az-Zubayr. He said, It reached me that he said, “I certainly supplicate Allah for all of my needs in the ṣalāh even for salt.”

Ibn Wahb narrated from Sa‘īd ibn Abī Ayyūb from Khālid ibn Yazīd from Abū Rāfi‘ that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Ask Allah decisively for your needs in ṣalāh aṣ-Ṣubḥ.”

Ibn Wahb: Mālik said to me, “There is no harm that Allah be supplicated in the ṣalāh against an unjust person and that one supplicates for others, for the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, supplicated in the ṣalāh for some people and supplicated against others.”

Ibn Wahb from Mu‘āwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ from ‘Abd al-Qāhir from Khālid ibn Abī ‘Imrān; he said, “While the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was supplicating against Muḍar, Jibrīl came to him and indicated to him to be quiet, and so he was quiet. Then he said, ‘Muḥammad, Allah did not send you as one who abuses or one who curses; He only sent you as a mercy. And He didn’t send you to punish; “You have no part in the affair. Either He will turn towards them or He will punish them, for they are wrongdoers.”’ (Sūrah Āli ‘Imrān 3:128) Then he taught him the qunūt.”

O Allah! Truly we seek Your help and Your forgiveness and believe in You and rely upon You.

We thank You and are not ungrateful to You and submit ourselves to you and surrender and abandon all who reject You.

O Allah You alone we worship. We pray and prostrate to You. We strive and struggle in Your Way.

We hope for Your mercy and fear Your harsh punishment. Certainly Your punishment encircles the rejectors.
